Patient Access Supervisor - Emergency Department

Pay - $60k - $65k annually
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Responsible for providing guidance and mentoring of new and/or existing staff with daily work effort and proper handling of accounts.
- Provides daily support, mentoring, and training to new hires as well as existing Patient Access staff. Provides assistance in managing escalated issues as needed.
- Assists in preparation for both short- and long-range planning recommendations for all Registration Process areas including Admitting, Centralized Scheduling, Emergency Department, and any on- or off-site clinics.
- Consistently provides excellent customer service, supports staff, and promotes a positive department culture aligned with organizational values.
- Enforces departmental policies, practices, procedures, and work rules in accordance with approved department and hospital policies and assists in the development and implementation of new policies according to hospital and corporate guidelines.
- Responsible for monitoring daily activity and completion of performance and metric reports such as financial clearance reports; may also perform special projects and reporting when assigned.
- Performs all Patient Access functions as needed.
- Acts as part of the management team to ensure that the group is meeting all operational goals.
- Department resource scheduling to include schedule creation, maintenance, and securing appropriate coverage using available resources.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with guidelines, policies, procedures, and applicable laws. Will manage roughly 20 direct reports (PAR I-III).
- Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; Planning, assigning, and directing work; Appraising performance; Rewarding and disciplining employees; and Addressing complaints and resolving problems
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- 2+ years' experience in a supervisory or lead role required
- 4+ years' experience in a medical facility, health insurance, or related area
- 5+ years' experience as a Patient Access experience, preferably in the Emergency Dept
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
- Demonstrated leadership abilities
- Thorough knowledge of healthcare information systems
- Clear understanding of Revenue Cycle Management and applicable regulatory agencies
- Ability to receive and express detailed information through oral and written communications
